Have you heard the saying “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” It is a valid statement. Humans must use their brains to soak in new knowledge to better themselves as a person for themselves and others. We are blessed with the power of reasoning and thought. Everyone has the power to speak words with the assistance of our human brain. That makes us the dominant species on Planet Earth.

Meditation is important to enact in our daily lives because it increases the size of our brain and the thickness of the gray matter, which deals with the five senses and paying attention. There was a study done by Dr. Sara Lazar at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. If you are interested in learning more about Dr. Sara Lazar, you can check out her website here: https://scholar.harvard.edu/sara_lazar

An article in the Washington Post mentions that Dr. Lazar in her first study found that people who meditated for a long period of time have “more gray matter in the frontal cortex, which is associated with working memory and executive decision making.” People who never meditate were found to have less gray matter in their brains. The human species has evolved significantly since the dawn of time. We have become more aware of the world around us. Resetting our brains daily through meditation allows us to be happy, free, open, and more focused on fulfilling our goals in our work and personal life. It also helps us to stay on track and focused. Meditation is a peaceful way to return to our relaxed state of mind.

I have been meditating regularly since 2012. It has made a huge positive impact on my life making me more peaceful, motivated, inspired, and ready to make an impact on the world. My mind is still sharp. I discovered from my research that meditation has several benefits to improve your mood and stimulate your brainpower.

There was an article written by Eugene Choi from Life Hack. Choi mentions that meditation helps to make “good decisions, makes you an expert at handling stress, remembering key information, and supercharging your brain. It empowers human beings to break out of the pattern of being mindless robots.” We become an illuminating beacon of light to ourselves and others. Life is amazing. Meditation is incredible. We have the ultimate power to create a beautiful life for ourselves.
