Why Are People Always in a Rush On the Road?

Why are people always in a hurry? This topic recently came to me when I was in my car heading to work. People are in a “rat race” to beat the clock and get to work on time. I never knew that the freeways and streets are now occupied by amateur race car drivers who speed down the road with no concern for the safety of others or themselves. Accident rates have skyrocketed. Traffic has returned to normal.

Our freeways and streets are not safe and fun to drive. Everyone is always on edge when you are driving in a car. Driving used to be fun, enjoyable and exciting when I first got my driver’s license. I realized in my personal experience that people are stressed out about arriving to work on time, going home, paying bills, and being on the “9 to 5 grind.” Most people on the road are impatient and short-tempered. My intuition has heightened when I feel the tension and uneasiness driving during the mornings or afternoons on the weekdays.

Why can’t life be simple and fulfilling? Driving is a privilege, not a right. People in their cars act entitled. They feel that they own the road.

I have noticed that less than a second after the traffic light turns green, drivers start honking. Take a chill pill. Relax. It is not the end of the world. I play classical music in the car to help me relax and stay focused on the road.

The solution to solving the “rush mentality” is to enjoy the present moment. Do not stress yourself out! People should leave earlier to work and enjoy their ride to work without having to race around like a maniac. You will feel better and experience less anxiety and headache. Commuting to work in a motor vehicle is a blessing. Some people do not have a car to use for work or to see their family or friends. Many have to take the bus, get dropped off, or walk to work.

People are pre-conditioned by society to always be on the go and be stuck and confined in a “hamster wheel.” That is not a healthy way to be living. Now, I see why people are always in a crappy mood. Be proactive! Change your life for the better. You will feel more calm and peaceful in your everyday life.

I always go by the motto “Set peace of mind as your highest goal and organize your life around it” by Brian Tracey. That is a powerful quote. People who take the time to find inner peace and block out the white noise in society will be able to enjoy life to the fullest. Get out of the hamster wheel. It is a trap.
